What makes the best DNS registrar
Most people pick a registrar for the price of the domain and only later find out what the DNS panel is like. Five things matter when you compare.
| What to check | Why it matters | At NameBest |
|---|---|---|
| Record types | You need MX, TXT and SRV, not only A and CNAME | A, AAAA, CNAME, MX, TXT and SRV |
| Price | Some registrars sell DNS as an upgrade | Included with every domain |
| Speed of changes | A typo should be fixable in minutes | Changes go live in minutes |
| Freedom to leave | You may want another DNS provider later | Custom nameservers any time |
| Clear errors | Conflicting records break email | Conflicts are flagged before you save |

How DNS management works in your dashboard
Open a domain and go to the DNS tab. You see every record in one table with its type, host, value and TTL.
- Step 1. Click Add record and choose the type.
- Step 2. Enter the host. Use @ for the domain itself or a name such as www.
- Step 3. Enter the value, such as an IP address, a host name or the TXT text.
- Step 4. Keep TTL on Automatic or set your own, then save.
The editor checks each record as you type. It warns you when a CNAME would share its host with other records or when a value is not valid for its type, so you do not break a working setup by accident.

Common DNS tasks, step by step
Most changes fall into a few patterns. Each has a short guide in our help center.
- Point your domain to a website host with an A record or a CNAME. See point a domain to a website.
- Set up email with your provider's MX records. See add MX records.
- Verify your domain with a search engine, an email service or a payment provider with a TXT record. See add a TXT record.
- Protect your email from spoofing with SPF, DKIM and DMARC records.
- Send a domain to another address without a server. Use domain forwarding.
06
Use our DNS or your own
Our DNS editor works while your domain uses NameBest nameservers. If you prefer a CDN, your host or another DNS provider, switch to custom nameservers in the dashboard. Your records stay saved in our editor, so you can switch back later and pick up where you left off.
07
How fast DNS changes take effect
A change is live on our nameservers within minutes. Other networks may keep an old answer until its TTL runs out, so set a short TTL, such as five minutes, a few hours before you move a site. After a nameserver change, allow up to 48 hours for every network to follow.
08
DNS for agencies and companies
When you run many domains, the DNS panel is where you spend your time. Every domain in your account has the same editor, the same record types and the same checks. Everything sits in one account, where you see every domain with its expiry date and edit records without tickets. See domain management for agencies.

DNS management questions
Is DNS management really included?
Yes. Every domain includes DNS management with A, AAAA, CNAME, MX, TXT and SRV records. There is no DNS fee and no hosting plan to buy.
How long do DNS changes take?
Changes reach our nameservers within minutes. Other networks follow when the old record's TTL expires, usually within an hour for short TTLs.
Can I use another DNS provider?
Yes. Set custom nameservers in the dashboard at any time. Your records in our editor are kept if you switch back.
What is the best DNS registrar for email setup?
One that supports MX, TXT and SRV records and flags conflicts before you save. NameBest does both, and the help center has a guide for each step.
Can I set up a subdomain?
Yes. Add an A, AAAA or CNAME record with the subdomain as the host, such as shop or blog.
