Renew domain names automatically, at the price shown up front
To renew a domain at NameBest you do nothing: auto renew is on by default, and the domain renews each year at the renewal price shown in your search result and your cart. We email you 30 days and 7 days before expiry, you can renew early for extra years at any time, and one switch per domain turns auto renew off.

How automatic domain renewal works
Each domain is a yearly subscription. On its expiry date we charge the card on file the renewal price and add a year. Every domain in your account renews on its own date, so a company with many domains never pays for all of them at once.

Renewal reminders you can count on
We send reminders whether auto renew is on or off, so a renewal never comes as a surprise and an expiry never goes unnoticed.

These reminders follow the ICANN expired registration recovery policy. If a renewal payment fails, we tell you right away and retry before the domain expires.

Renew your domain without a renewal hike
Many registrars price the first year low and the renewal much higher, and you only notice when the card is charged. At NameBest the renewal price sits next to the first year price on every result. On some extensions, such as .xyz and .io, the renewal costs more than the first year. The first year and renewal price are both shown before you pay, so year two holds no surprise. When a registry changes its prices, the change applies to the next renewal only, and your reminder shows the price that will be charged. Renew a domain by hand or for several years
You can renew any domain early, without waiting for auto renew. Open the domain, go to the Renewal tab, pick how many years to add and pay. The years are added to the current expiry date, so renewing early never costs you time. Registries limit the total registration to 10 years. Read how to renew a domain manually for the steps.

Turning auto renew off
If you no longer need a domain, switch auto renew off in its Renewal tab. Nothing changes right away. The domain keeps working until the end of the paid year, then expires. You can switch auto renew back on at any time before that, and you can still renew the domain by hand during the grace period. Read about auto renew and reminders.

What happens if a domain is not renewed
At expiry the domain stops resolving, so the website and email on it stop working. You then have a grace period, usually up to 30 days, to renew it at the normal price. After that comes a redemption period, usually 30 days, when the registry charges a restore fee on top of the renewal. Then the domain is deleted and released for anyone to register. Domain renewal questions
How much does it cost to renew a domain?
The renewal price for each extension is in the search result, the cart, your dashboard and the domain prices table. For most extensions it is the same as or close to the first year price.
Can I renew a domain before it expires?
Yes. Renew any time from the Renewal tab. The years you add go on top of the current expiry date.
What if my card fails at renewal?
We email you right away and retry before the domain expires. Update your card in Payment methods and the next retry goes through.
Can I get a refund for an automatic renewal?
A completed renewal cannot be returned to the registry, so it is not refundable. That is why we send reminders 30 and 7 days before, giving you time to switch auto renew off.
How many years can I renew a domain for?
Registries allow a total registration of up to 10 years, counted from today. The Renewal tab shows how many years you can still add.
Do I have to renew a transferred domain right away?
No. A transfer adds one year to the registration, and the domain then renews on its new expiry date.
