How domain auto renew works
- Each domain is a yearly subscription that renews on its own before the expiry date.
- The charge goes to the card saved under Payment methods in the account menu.
- The amount is the renewal price shown in your Dashboard for that domain.
- After a successful renewal, the new invoice appears under Orders and invoices.
Renewal reminder emails

Reminders go to the email address on your account and to the registrant email.
Turn auto renew on or off
1. Open the domain
Go to Dashboard, then Domains, and select the domain.
2. Open the Renewal tab
The tab shows the expiry date, the renewal price and the Auto renew switch.
3. Switch Auto renew on or off
When you switch it off, the domain stays yours until the end of the paid year and then expires. Nothing else changes. You can also flip the switch straight from the Domains list.
The renewal payment failed. What happens?
We email you and try again over the next days. Update the card under Payment methods or renew the domain manually before the expiry date.
What happens if my domain expires?
It stops resolving at expiry. You can still renew it at the normal price during the grace period, then at a restore fee during the redemption period. The steps and timing are on the expired domains page and in the renewal policy.
Can I renew for more than one year?
Yes. Use Renew now in the Renewal tab and pick the number of years. See renew a domain manually.
Is a renewal refundable?
A completed renewal is paid to the registry and cannot be returned. Read the domain refund policy.
