Why completed domain registrations are not refundable
When you pay, we register the domain with the registry for the full year and pay the registry for it. The registry does not take the year back, and the name is reserved for you from that moment. This is the same at every registrar. Before you pay, the cart shows the first year price, the renewal price and any minimum term, so you can check everything first.
How a refund for a failed registration works
1. We detect the failure
If the registry rejects the order, the domain shows as failed in your order under Orders and invoices.
2. We refund the domain
The amount for that domain goes back to the card you paid with. Other domains in the same order are not affected.
3. You see the refund on your card
Card refunds usually appear within 5 to 10 business days, depending on your bank. You also receive an email confirmation.
Avoid paying for a renewal you do not want
Switch off auto renew in the Renewal tab of the domain at least a few days before the expiry date. Reminders arrive 30 and 7 days before expiry, so you always have time to decide. See domain auto renew.
I registered a typo. Can I cancel it?
A completed registration cannot be cancelled. Switch off auto renew so it simply expires after the paid year, and register the correct name on the domain search page.
I was charged for a renewal I forgot about. What can I do?
Completed renewals are paid to the registry and cannot be returned. Switch off auto renew now so it does not happen again next year.
I think I was charged twice. Who do I contact?
Write to [email protected] with the domain name and the invoice numbers from Orders and invoices. A double charge for the same item is always corrected.
The full terms are in the Terms and the registration agreement.
