.net domain registration for networks, services and brands

A .net is one of the original generic domain extensions, created for network services and open to anyone worldwide with no requirements. It suits internet services, hosting and infrastructure companies, and brands whose .com is taken. You can register a .net at NameBest for 1 to 10 years, with WHOIS privacy, DNS management and URL forwarding included.

Search .net domain names

Type a name and we check the .net registry live. The results show the .com, .co and .org versions next to it with first year and renewal prices, so you can pick the right extension in one view.

.net domain price per year

First year, renewal and transfer prices for .net come from our live pricing table, the same numbers you see in search results and in the cart. The renewal price sits next to the first year price, so you know what keeping the name costs. Compare every extension on the domain prices page.

Who should use a .net domain

A .net carries a technical, infrastructure feel and is the oldest alternative to .com that people recognize instantly.

  • Hosting, network, email and infrastructure providers
  • Internet service providers and technical communities
  • Companies that own the .com and want the .net as a defensive registration
  • Brands whose .com is taken and who want a familiar extension

07

.net vs .com and .co

A .com domain is the default people type. A .net is the most recognized fallback, and it shares the same registry rules and term limits as .com. A .co domain is shorter and reads as company rather than network. An .org domain fits communities and nonprofits instead. If you can, hold the .com and forward it. Our article com vs net compares the two in detail.

Extension Reads as Registry rules
.com Default, commercial Open, 1 to 10 years
.net Network, technical Open, 1 to 10 years
.co Company Open, ccTLD of Colombia
.org Organization Open, 1 to 10 years

Renewing and transferring a .net domain

Your .net renews automatically each year at the renewal price shown here, and you can switch auto renew off per domain in the dashboard. We email you 30 and 7 days before expiry and again after it. You can extend a .net for several years at once, up to 10 years in total. To move a .net to NameBest, unlock it at your current registrar, copy the EPP code and start a domain transfer. The transfer adds one year to the registration and most transfers finish within 5 days. A .net cannot be transferred within 60 days of registration or of a change of registrant.

Questions about .net domains

Is .net only for network companies?

No. It was created for network services, but the registry has never enforced that. Anyone can register a .net for any lawful purpose.

Is a .net as good as a .com?

Technically yes, and search engines treat both the same way. The difference is habit: people type .com first, so if you use a .net, try to own the .com too and forward it.

How long can I register a .net for?

From 1 to 10 years, the same as .com. Most people choose one year with auto renew on and add years later if they want.

Is WHOIS privacy included for .net?

Yes. The .net registry allows privacy, and it is part of the yearly price at NameBest.

Can I use my own nameservers on a .net?

Yes. Set custom nameservers in the dashboard, or keep ours and edit records in the DNS table. See custom nameservers for details.
